Can I Travel With A Mobility Aid?
Yes. We are pleased to carry a wide range of mobility aids, including wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, braces, communication devices, prosthetics, and other medical assistive devices. Most mobility aids travel free of charge. If you need your mobility aid to travel through the airport, our team can tag it at check-in or the gate and return it to you upon arrival whenever possible. Learn more here.
Are There Child-Friendly Facilities On Board?
Our Boeing 737 aircraft are equipped with baby change tables to help make travelling with little ones a little easier. We recommend bringing any diapers, wipes, and other baby care essentials you'll need during your journey, as these items are not available on board.
What Is The Baggage Allowance When Travelling With An Infant?
The baggage allowance for your infant depends on whether they are travelling on your lap or in their own seat.
Lap-held infants are not entitled to their own checked or carry-on baggage allowance. However, you may bring a diaper bag containing the items your little one will need at the airport and on board, provided it meets the size and weight limits for carry-on baggage.
In addition, we are pleased to accept two (2) pieces of infant equipment free of charge. This can include a stroller, playpen, or approved child restraint system (car seat). These items may be checked at the counter or at the gate.
Infants travelling in their own seat receive the same baggage allowance included with their fare, including two (2) checked baggage and one (1) carry-on item. If your infant will be using a car seat on board, please refer to our information on approved child restraint systems.
Please note that all checked and carry-on items must meet applicable size and weight limits.
For information on items permitted through security screening, please visit CATSA.
What Are The Safety Procedures For Travelling With An Infant?
Your infant's safety is our top priority. If your little one is travelling on your lap, they must be held by an adult during taxi, takeoff, landing, whenever the seatbelt sign is illuminated, and at any other time directed by our crew.
If your infant has their own seat, they must remain secured in their approved child restraint system (car seat) during these times.
Our crew will be happy to answer any questions and help ensure you and your infant are comfortable and prepared throughout the journey.

Can I Ship IKEA Or Flat Packed Furniture?
Flat-pack furniture such as IKEA items is generally not packaged in a way that is suitable for air transport.
If you would like to ship flat-pack furniture through Air North Cargo, we strongly recommend repackaging it to ensure it is adequately protected for air travel.
In cases where packaging is not sufficient, we may refuse carriage or ask you to sign a waiver confirming that you understand the risks associated with shipping the item in its current condition.
Our Cargo team is always happy to help advise on packaging before you ship.
Can I Ship Cash Or Legal Tender?
No. Air North Cargo does not accept shipments of cash or legal tender from the general public, and such shipments will be refused.
All shipments are subject to security screening, and undeclared items discovered during screening may be reported in accordance with applicable regulations.
It is important that the contents of all shipments match the shipper’s declaration. Any discrepancies between declared and actual contents may result in refusal of carriage.
Can I Travel With Wild Fish And Game?
If you are shipping wildlife products out of the Yukon, a permit may be required. Please refer to the Government of Yukon’s website for full details on when a permit is required and how to apply.
For items originally harvested in British Columbia and shipped back to British Columbia via the Yukon, a copy of the Hunter’s Licence and Permit is required for transport.

Can I Travel With Cremated Remains?
Yes. Cremated remains are accepted for transport on Air North flights.
Cremated remains may be carried on board as carry-on baggage, provided the container does not exceed 350 mL. If the volume is greater than 350 mL, the remains must be transported as checked baggage.
For security screening purposes, the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) recommends using a temporary container such as plastic, cardboard, or cloth, as these materials are more likely to pass screening smoothly. Permanent containers made of stone, metal, or ceramic may also be accepted in carry-on or checked baggage, provided they meet screening requirements.
Please note;
- All items must pass security screening,
- Screening officers are not permitted to open cremation containers,
- If a container cannot be screened, it will not be accepted for transport,
- Documentation from a funeral home does not exempt items from screening requirements.
While not always required, we recommend travellers carry supporting documentation such as a death certificate, or a certificate of cremation.
If the remains are for an animal, additional documentation from a veterinarian confirming cremation may be required.
For more information about travelling with cremated remains and meeting CTSA requirements, please see visit catsa.gc.ca

What Are The Requirements For A Registered Service Animal?
A service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained by a professional organization or a qualified individual that specializes in service dog training to perform a task that assists a person with a disability with a need related to that disability.
A qualified service animal may fly free of charge, but it must be approved by Air North in advance. Please complete the form below and submit it to serviceanimals@flyairnorth.com 14 days prior to travel. Requests must be submitted a minimum of 48 hours in advance.
Once approved, you will be provided with documentation that you will need to keep with you for the duration of your travels. Even if the animal was previously approved, your service animal may be refused travel if you do not have the required supplemental (health) documentation with you.
Please do not provide any personal information about your medical background or the nature of your disability. The purpose of the application process is purely to assess the animal’s qualifications and training.
Should the request be denied, the animal may fly for a fee under our regular Pets On Jets program. Note that there is limited space upon each flight for pets in cabin and in baggage/cargo, and this must be booked in advance. Please refer to the Pets On Jets page for requirements and guidance around kennel sizes and other information.
Additional information
- The service animal must be fully certified in writing as having been trained by a professional service animal institution or qualified individual. Details about the training and institution/trainer will be required as Air North may need to confirm this information. Registry information alone is insufficient as proof of training.
- If the information provided about the training does not include the required details, additional documentation may be requested.
- The service animal must be in good health and up to date on their vaccinations.
- For the safety of the person and service animal, Air North will assign a seat that provides sufficient space and does not obstruct access to an emergency exit or interfere with the crew's ability to act during an emergency.
- The animal must remain properly harnessed and under the travellers control. If the animal is too large for the space under a seat, it may remain on the floor area at the traveller's feet.
- Requests may be submitted with less than 48 hours’ notice prior to travel in an emergency, but approvals are not guaranteed.

What Are The Different Ways My Pet Can Travel?
Pets can travel in three different ways.
Pet As Checked Baggage (AVIH)
Certain cats, dogs or rabbits may travel with you in the cabin in a soft-sided kennel that fits under the seat in front of you. Pets travelling in the cabin are subject to a fee of $50 CAD, plus applicable taxes. To determine whether your pet is eligible, please learn more here.
Pet As Checked Baggage (AVIH)
Pets travelling as checked baggage must travel on the same flight as their owner and are considered part of that traveller’s checked baggage allowance. To learn about kennel requirements and other conditions for transporting your pet as checked baggage (AVIH), please learn more here.
Pet As Cargo
Pets shipped as cargo do not require an accompanying traveller and may travel independently. Shipping charges vary based on the size and weight of the kennel. For more information about transporting your pet as cargo, visit cargo here.

Please note that unaccompanied minors are not permitted to travel with a pet, either in the cabin or as checked baggage.
What Are Air North’s Responsibilities Regarding Unaccompanied Minors?

A parent or guardian will be responsible for escorting the Unaccompanied Minor to the gate and remaining with the child until the child is escorted on board the aircraft by Air North personnel. A parent or guardian will be responsible for picking up the child once the aircraft arrives, with Air North personnel escorting the child from the aircraft.

Although we will provide in-flight service including a complimentary soft drink and light snack or light meal (based upon the route), it may be worthwhile to pack a special meal or snack for them to enjoy.
At the gate, Unaccompanied Minors will be boarded ahead of other travellers and, upon arrival, will be last off the flight in order to ensure that our team can assist them and ensure that they have all of their belongings.

The guardian at the point of departure will be required to fill out forms requiring information including the name, telephone number, and address of the guardians at the point of departure and arrival. What Is The Difference Between Direct And Non-Stop Flights?
Direct flights operate between two (2) destinations under a single flight number, but may include one (1) or more stops along the way. During these stops, travellers typically remain on the same aircraft and do not need to change planes.
Non-stop flights travel straight from the departure airport to the final destination without any stops. Once you fasten your seatbelt for takeoff, the next landing will be at your destination.
Connecting flights require travellers to change aircraft — and sometimes airlines — at an intermediate airport in order to reach their final destination.
