Service Advisory Regarding Whitehorse/Watson Lake/Prince George/Kelowna/Nanaimo/Vancouver Route
WHITEHORSE, YUKON – Air North, Yukon’s Airline ceases public bookings on certain legs of once-weekly route serving destinations in Yukon and BC.
After careful consideration, Air North, Yukon’s Airline has made the decision to cease scheduled passenger service on certain legs of the once-weekly flight operating between Whitehorse, Watson Lake, Prince George, Kelowna, Nanaimo, and Vancouver. Effective immediately, Air North is no longer able to accept bookings for flights departing from or arriving to Prince George, Kelowna, Nanaimo, or Vancouver on this route. Flights between Whitehorse and Watson Lake will continue to be bookable and regularly scheduled direct service between Whitehorse, Vancouver and Kelowna will not be affected.
The once-weekly service had operated as a private workforce charter for several months before bookings were made available to the public on October 29, 2019.
“This decision has been made due to operational complexities arising from the fact that the Watson Lake Airport does not offer security screening. Regrettably this means we will be closing public bookings for the majority of legs on this route for the foreseeable future” says Benjamin Ryan, Chief Commercial Officer for Air North. “Our passengers provided a lot of positive feedback when we announced service to these destinations so we will take that into consideration with the hope of reintroducing these destinations in the future.”
Any passengers currently booked on one of the affected legs will be contacted by an Air North representative and offered a full refund.
