Pre-Budget Consultations 2021

We would like to thank the Honourable Chrystia Freeland for providing the opportunity for consultation as she works towards preparing a budget in one of the most challenging times in Canadian history.

Our comments are provided from a northern and regional airline perspective and will hopefully distinguish themselves from others because we believe strategies can be employed to optimize financial aid by attaching strategic conditions designed to encourage market efficiency, thus reducing the burden on taxpayers. Specifically, we have proposed that two key conditions be associated with continued financial aid for airlines: mandatory interline agreements between Canadian scheduled air carriers, and a temporary cap on mainline carrier access to northern markets during the period that financial aid is being provided.
