WHITEHORSE, YUKON - November 8, 2012 - Air North, Yukon's Airline is pleased to announce that it was recently given an award by the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE).
On October 25th, the company was awarded an Honourable Mention for an Organization with 51 - 500 employees due to its commitment to worker safety and strong participation in North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH Week) earlier this year.
"It's a recognition of our commitment to worker health and safety, as well as safety in general at Air North," said Safety Manager Ray Todd. "Matthew Walker and Dan Poelman of the Safety Office organised a week-long effort that was extremely well-received within the company and really helped increase awareness of workplace safety."
Air North's commitment to safety is exemplified by its COR (Certificate of Recognition) Certification, awarded in 2009. Air North's Vancouver operations were separately certified in 2011. Since certification, the company has been audited annually and continues to be recognized as holding a very high standard for workplace safety.
