WHITEHORSE, YUKON - April 1, 2016 - Air North, Yukon's Airline announced today that it is launching a in-flight service: Northern Lights Guaranteed.
NLG is essentially an in-flight dance club. The product was the brainchild of Air North President and CEO Joe Sparling.
"I find that the best way to unwind after a long day of financial spreadsheets and business calls is to hit up a club and crunk to some sick beats," said Sparling, who used to spin records in the seventies as D.J. Av8er. His first record went platinum in Montenegro for three full days.
Now, Sparling has put his seldom-seen creative efforts into NLG. It combines the hospitality customers have come to expect of Air North with the feel of a club. Passengers are still given free cookies, but charged $20 per drink, and $25 for water. In addition, each flight crew includes several employees tasked solely with standing in line for the lavatory, so that there is always at least a ten-minute wait.
"It's the best dance club ever!" enthused one passenger. "The flight attendant even spilled my drink all over me and still charged me for it!"
NLG-certified employees are trained in regular aspects of their job, but additionally expected to adhere to 'recommendations for being cool' and 'best practices for jumping up and down until the beat drops." The pilots are given D.J. training and must complete one successful year of touring at music festivals from Miami to Ibiza before they receive their NLG type rating.
"Yukoners know that Air North's strength is customer service," said Sparling, "so our pilots are careful to pick the most turbulent flight path to ensure the energy is always upbeat. We simply care about your comfort."
