WHITEHORSE, YUKON - Air North, Yukon's Airline today announced that its Student Flex Passes will now be available year-round.
"We created our Student Flex Passes in 2009 as a way of helping students," said Debra Ryan, Air North's manager of strategic partnerships and alliances. "Education is a pillar of the community support and sponsorship work we do, and the Flex Passes emerged from that. We wanted to make travel for education easy and affordable. Encouraging that benefits us all, because we believe students will bring everything the've learned home."
The Student Flex Passes have been a very popular offering-anticipated each year by parents and students alike. However, it became clear to the company's sales and marketing team that offering the Student Flex Passes once a year was leaving some students behind.
"Students aren't on a predictable schedule," Sharon Miller, Air North's reservations manager, said. "Classes can start in the Fall, in the Spring, or anywhere in between. If we were going to live up to our original intent, we had to make this something a student could purchase 365 days a year."
The Student Flex Passes are valid for one year from the date of purchase, have no blackout dates, and offer a one-way flight segment for as little as $210 including fees and taxes. Aside from offering travel-cost predictability, a huge boon is the ability for students to book up to two hours prior to departure.
Proof of enrolment in an educational institution during at least three months of the Flex Pass' one year validity period is required.
"We know students love our Flex Passes, and that the passes are a must-have each time students are getting ready to go to school," said Miller. "We're certain having them available year-round will give students a big boost."
